Hayleys Advantis Strengthening Maritime trade in Sri Lanka in Partnership with SLPA

Hayleys Advantis extends its warmest wishes to the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) on its 43rd anniversary. With a rich history under its name, today, the SLPA is at the forefront of the nation’s economy, as it has proven to be a vital aspect in keeping the Sri Lankan economy afloat.
With the myriad of challenges that followed with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, serious obstacles were posed to the smooth operation of global supply chains. Needless to say, it had a profound impact on ports and the overall global shipping industry. However, the SLPA continued its operations unhindered and provided effective and efficient port services. Various risk measures were implemented to ensure the execution of operations whilst mitigating the risks presented by the global pandemic to all stakeholders involved.

The SLPA has remained insulated from most of the adverse repercussions of the current global economic hardships and has been able to cater to vital transhipments, exports, imports and related logistics services. In Recognition of SLPA’s continued perseverance and growth, in June 2022, the Port of Colombo was recognised as the most efficient port in South Asia and the Indian Sub-Continent, 3rd in the Indian Ocean rim and 22nd amongst 370 ports globally, as per the second edition of the Global Container Port Performance Index (CPPI) 2021, ranking developed by the World Bank and S&P Global Market Intelligence and Financial Services.

Hayleys Advantis, as the transportation and logistics arm of the Hayleys Group, has had a fruitful partnership with the SLPA since its inception. Hayleys Advantis, together with the SLPA, have served as key pillars in the development and transformation of the shipping and maritime sector of the nation. Today, the Group functions in multiple port-related activities, including offering a vast range of services for the vessels calling at the Ports of Colombo, Galle, Hambantota and Trincomalee. Hayleys Advantis is at the forefront in providing 360-degree solutions to global shipowners in the liner and bulk segments, the oil & gas industry and foreign naval fleets.

Speaking on this milestone of the SLPA, the Managing Director of Hayleys Advantis Limited, Mr. Ruwan Waidyaratne stated, “Hayleys Advantis has always been appreciative of the partnership cultivated with the SLPA over the years. We have seen a commendable performance by the SLPA that has contributed to the sustenance of the nation’s economy. Whilst rising to become a maritime hub in the region, it has displayed dedication toward building port infrastructure that will bring varying degrees of benefits to the country. I extend my best wishes to the Chairman, Board of Directors, Management and the Staff of the SLPA on this occasion and look forward to a collaborative partnership towards enhancing the maritime sector of Sri Lanka”.
