Hayleys Advantis - local leader in 3PL crosses Rs. 1.5 billion mark in infrastructure investment - June 2, 2009
Investments in third party logistics (3PL) infrastructure in Sri Lanka by Hayleys Advantis have surpassed the Rs. 1.5 billion (US$ 12.5 million) mark, Hayleys PLC’s transportation and logistics group announced this week. This milestone was achieved recently with investments in upgrades to existing warehousing and ground distribution logistics, with steps taken to commence migrating the Group’s Logiwiz Distribution Centre to an entirely RF (Radio Frequency) environment.
Currently employing a 1000-strong team, Hayleys Advantis covers the entire country through its modern warehousing infrastructure. As a result of a concerted effort to enhance its 3PL capabilities, the Group has emerged as the leader in the industry offering end-to-end 3PL services to its clients through well established brands.
Commenting on this milestone, Hayleys Advantis Managing Director Omar Raban, said: “This is evidence of the Group’s strength and commitment to the 3PL industry, and proves its position as a leader in Integrated Logistics Services. Our 50 year experience in this industry gives us a distinctly local flavor and a home grown reliability that extends to all borders of this country, which is unsurpassed.”
Advantis entered the local 3PL market with the launch of Logiwiz in 2003 and has today grown to be the preferred 3PL service provider for a majority of best-of-class Multinationals who have outsourced their 3PL activities to Sri Lanka. Logiwiz, the first purpose built state of the art warehouse in Sri Lanka, located in Kelaniya now has 165,000 square feet and is part of a national network of over 600,000 sq.ft. under management, Raban said.
The latest entrant to the Advantis family was Logilink, a Customs Supervised Freight Station that represents a new dimension in deconsolidation and consolidation services for the imports and exports of Sri Lanka. Advantis has also recently set up a modern Distribution Centre at the MAS Fabric Park, the first privately operated BOI zone at Thulhiriya.
“The strength of our 3PL unit lies in its people, processes and technology. Superior technology, from a Tier-1 Warehouse Management System to modern Material Handling Equipment and industry-specific storage solutions, play a pivotal role in adding value to our customers’ supply chains. Together with the gamut of services that thrive within the Advantis Transportation Arm, we are able to offer clients a complete integrated logistics solution, customized to their respective requirements” Raban added.
The Hayleys Advantis Group is the holding company of the Transportation and Logistics interests of Hayleys. In addition to 3PL services, Hayleys Advantis provides International Freight, Shipping and Marine and Energy Services, Warehousing and Transit Facilities, Haulage, Aviation and Travel and Agency Representation. Hayleys Advantis also has operations in India, Fiji and USA.
Celebrating its 50 th Year in the industry, the Group today controls an international network offering comprehensive, integrated end-to-end Logistics Solutions to clients; from packing personal effects to involvement in national infrastructural projects to the global movement of cargo.
